Breathwork is the intentional use of the breath to support emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. By consciously altering the rhythm, depth, and pattern of our breath, we can access deeper layers of awareness, release tension, and restore balance in the nervous system. There are countless variations of breathwork in existence, each practiced in different ways and for a variety of purposes.

Conscious Connected Breathing is a modality of breathwork where the inhale and exhale are connected at the top and bottom of the breath without a pause. The practice was originally “discovered” in the West in the 1960’s by psychotherapists Leonard Orr and Sondra Ray, who named the practice Rebirthing Breathwork and used it to heal birth trauma in clients. Around that same time the psychologist Stan Groff, a founding figure of Transpersonal Psychology, began experimenting with conscious connected breathing to enter non-ordinary states of consciousness. By the mid-70’s there were numerous organizations offering variants of conscious connected breathwork, all with their own techniques, philosophies, and theory.
“Most Rebirthing Breathwork sessions are physical, emotional, and spiritual. People experience breathing out pain, tension, drama, and trauma into relaxation and peace.”-Leonard Orr

Breathwave offers a powerfully gentle approach to conscious connected breathing. Without force, participants practice surrendering to and receiving from Life itself. When they breath in this way they generate an unbroken electromagnetic current that flows through them. Wherever there is resistance to that flow, imbalances and constrictions will arise in the breathing pattern. Breathwave facilitators are trained to identify and correct these unhealthful patterns through verbal coaching and hands-on support. As the participant finds the natural rhythm of their breath, their nervous system entrains into harmonic resonance with that rhythm and they enter a deep state of present-moment awareness.

My childhood was extremely difficult. I endured years of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse and neglect. My family was too consumed by their own pain to properly care for me. As a result, I spent my teen and early-adult life living unconsciously and in tremendous psychological distress. I didn’t know how to maintain healthy relationships, had few friends, and struggled with poor self-worth, depression and suicidality.
In my early 30’s I became a foster parent and received in-depth training in trauma-informed caregiving. That training brought to light my entire childhood experience. I was connected with an early-childhood trauma specialist and ended up spending six years in weekly talk-therapy. Her support taught me many of the skills I had never learned as a child, which served as the foundation for a healthy mind and nervous system.
At 35 I began to explore psychedelics for the purpose of continued healing. Those experiences allowed me to process and truly heal a tremendous amount of my trauma. They opened me up spiritually in unimaginable ways, which provided me with a framework of values and philosophies that guide my life to this day. My depression and anxiety disappeared, and I stepped into a new way of being that I had never known. For the first time ever, I felt truly alive.
When I was introduced to breathwork in 2021 it was the perfect next step in my healing journey. Breathwork has given me access to the wisdom of my body, connects me to what I call “God”, and is available to me in every moment. It has become a daily devotional practice that enables me to fully show up for life. I am incredibly grateful to have received this gift of breath.
It is with deep gratitude that I humbly offer this gift to you.
